DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say two children have been killed and three adults were hurt in a late night house fire in Dothan.

Fire officials tell WTVY-TV that the injured adults were taken to Flowers Hospital in Dothan, and two of them had critical injuries.

They say the fire happened late Monday night on Ginnalou Drive off Highway 84 West.

Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd tells the Dothan Eagle that he pronounced two children, a boy and a girl, dead after midnight. Dothan Fire Battalion Chief Chris Etheredge told WTVY their bodies were found once firefighters were able to search the home.

Byrd said one of the injured adults was taken by helicopter to another hospital for additional treatment.

Byrd told the newspaper early Tuesday that there are many unanswered questions about what happened.
