Police arrest 2 homeless men in Ala. bank robberyDECATUR, Ala. (AP) — Police in Decatur say they have charged two homeless men with robbing a bank after they were arrested trying to flee in a pickup truck. Al. come reports (http://bit.ly/WZJM6s ) police in nearby Hartselle spotted the getaway truck and arrested the suspects Friday afternoon about 30 minutes after the robbery at the Peoples Bank in Decatur. Police say 28-year-old John David VanStennis and 51-year-old Joseph Michael Borden have been charged with first-degree robbery. They are being held at the Decatur City Jail. It was unknown Saturday if they had attorneys. Police say one of the men walked into the bank with a handgun and demanded money from a teller. The other suspect drove the Ford pickup truck they used to flee. Witnesses were able to describe the getaway truck to police. |
