Authorities search for inmate NW of Birmingham

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Alabama authorities are searching for an inmate accused of escaping from a work release center by running from a van as it took him to a work site in the town of Brilliant.

The Alabama Department of Corrections said in a statement that inmate Paul Junior Breedlove is considered an escapee from the Hamilton Work Release Center.

Authorities say he left the van around 7 a.m. Thursday and began running to a wooded area.

He was given a life sentence for robbery in 1984 in a Cullman County case. Breedlove has a possible parole date on March 5, 2013.

Brilliant is about 70 miles northwest of Birmingham.
