Youthful offender status denied in Ala. stabbing
FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) — The attorney for a woman charged in the stabbing death of a teenage girl says a judge has violated his client's Constitutional rights by denying her youthful offender status.
WAFF-TV (http://bit.ly/Ydu5YP ) reports a Lauderdale County judge denied youthful offender status for 18-year-old Autumn Wood, who is accused of fatally stabbing a 14-year-old girl in her chest at a party in March of 2012.
Youthful offender status would have limited the amount of time Wood could be sentenced to prison.
The judge has not responded to Wood's attorney, and her trial is set to begin April 15.
