MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — A summary of action in the Alabama Legislature on Thursday, the fifth meeting day of the 2013 regular session:
—Passed after more than four hours of debate a bill to give local schools more flexibility over rules and regulations. Goes to Senate.
—Approved legislation that guarantees the state will repay money borrowed from an oil and gas revenues savings plan. Goes back to House for approval of a Senate amendment.
—Debated a bill to reorganize the legislative staff, but did not vote on it.
—Senate meets at 10 a.m. Tuesday and House meets at 1 p. m. Tuesday.
