HURTSBORO, Ala. (AP) — Authorities are investigating what they describe as a double homicide after the bodies of a man and a woman were found in eastern Alabama.

Russell County sheriff's officials say the killings occurred sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning just outside the small community of Hurtsboro.

The Russell County coroner identified them as 35-year-old Reginald Berry of Pittsview; and 27-year-old Michelle Denise Buchannon of Opelika.

Sheriff Heath Taylor said the killings took place on Shady Grove Road. The area is about 30 miles southwest of Columbus, Ga.

Few other details were immediately available. The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports (http://bit.ly/YwMIZ4) that sheriff's officials were planning a news conference to release further details.
