Ala. court defendant commits suicide during recessJASPER, Ala. (AP) — Authorities in Walker County say a Graysville man on trial for burglary, armed robbery and assault committed suicide in a cemetery during a court recess. Officials say 27-year-old Daniel Lavale Williams shot himself around noon at a cemetery in Jasper Tuesday. Williams was taken to the University of Alabama Hospital and was pronounced dead. Jasper Police Cpt. Larry Cantrell told AL.com (http://bit.ly/1352AHX) the man's girlfriend was with him in the cemetery and is cooperating in the investigation. Walker County Circuit Court Judge Jerry Selman declared a mistrial in the case. A co-defendant who pleaded guilty and testified against Williams and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. |
