TARRANT, Ala. (AP) — Firefighters in Tarrant were monitoring remnants of a large commercial building for hotspots after fire ripped through the structure.

Tarrant Fire Chief Patrick Hewitt tells WBRC-TV (http://bit.ly/W9EwlC) that the blaze started Monday afternoon on Thomason Avenue in Tarrant.

Firefighters were trying to keep the flames from spreading into an area with highly flammable solvents. The fire chief says wood and sheet rock are inside the building, along with the combustible materials.

No one was inside when the fire started, and no injuries have been reported.

Tarrant is just north of Birmingham.
