Forecasters warn of slick roads in northern Ala.


HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Forecasters say motorists in northern Alabama should keep an eye out for icy patches on roads as temperatures hover near freezing and light snow falls in some areas. reports ( ) the National Weather Service in Huntsville issued a hazardous weather statement Saturday morning saying light snow showers remain possible in the Tennessee Valley through Saturday afternoon.

The weather alert affects 11 Alabama counties — Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan, Marshall, Jackson, DeKalb and Cullman.

Forecasters say little to no accumulation is expected from any snowfall Saturday as high temperatures are expected to push into the upper 30s.

A storm system moving into the area is expected to bring a chance of rain and storms early next week.
