BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — An accused Birmingham crack dealer has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after spending four years on the run.

U.S. Attorney's spokeswoman Peggy Sanford says 41-year-old Lamar Gibson was indicted on several drug charges in August 2008 and fled authorities. Sanford says Gibson was arrested in August 2012 and was convicted in October.

Sanford says Gibson and co-defendant, 44-year-old Shawn Greer of Birmingham, were convicted of selling about 70 grams of crack cocaine in February of 2008 and attempting to distribute more than two ounces of the drug in May of the same year.

Sanford says Greer has already pleaded guilty and has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
