Opelika police probe 2nd killing in past 10 daysOPELIKA, Ala. (AP) — Police in Opelika are investigating the city's second killing in the past 10 days. Authorities say 29-year-old Andrew Cornelious Jones of Opelika died at a hospital after officers found him lying in a driveway Sunday night, suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Opelika Police Capt. Bruce DeLong said Monday afternoon that police were still conducting interviews in the case. The Opelika-Auburn News reports (http://bit.ly/YO8Pfe) that the crime happened less than a mile from the spot where another man was found with gunshot wounds a few days earlier. On March 10, Opelika police found 39-year-old Harvey Pete Sanford of Opelika lying on a sidewalk, shot in the abdomen. He also died at a hospital.
