Mother, child killed; bodies found in apartmentBIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Police in Jefferson County are investigating the killings of a mother and a young child after their bodies were found in an apartment. Chief Deputy Randy Christian says a manager at The Park at Rocky Ridge Apartments called authorities around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, reporting that a woman and her two children were believed to be dead inside of their apartment. Christian tells WBRC-TV (http://bit.ly/15sbn3L) that deputies found an adult female and a female child deceased in the second-story apartment. He said a 5-year-old male was found wounded, but still alive. That child was airlifted to Children's Hospital with critical injuries.
