MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Meteorologists say an unstable weather system poses a threat for hail and severe thunderstorms in south Alabama.

Forecasters expect a warm front to move north through the region Saturday and say there's a possibility of hail throughout the afternoon.

Meteorologists say the warm front will become increasingly unstable as it moves northeast. Forecasters say the weather system will produce thunderstorm wind gusts, large hail and possibly a tornado.

The storms are expected to hit south central Alabama between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. and forecasters say there's a possibility of tornadoes near the Gulf Coast.

National Weather Service forecasters expect the system of thunderstorms to move out of the area Saturday night.
