PHENIX CITY, Ala. (AP) — Authorities in eastern Alabama say a man died after a struggle with Lee County sheriff's deputies and Phenix City police.

Sheriff's officials say they responded to a call about a naked man who entered a home and threatened its occupants Sunday night. Police say the man fled and tried entering another house when officers tried subduing him.

Phenix City police assisted sheriff's deputies in a struggle authorities say lasted more than 10 minutes. Authorities say the man was combative even after deputies used a Taser to try subduing him. The man passed out and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Sheriff Jay Jones has requested the Alabama Bureau of Investigation to probe the incident. Police have yet to notify the man's family and have not released his identity.
