MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Authorities in east Alabama say an alleged bank robber has been arrested in Atlanta.

Oxford Police Chief Bill Partridge tells the Anniston Star (http://bit.ly/103Z7pD) 39-year-old Eli Scrutchins, of Woodstock, Ga., was arrested Sunday in connection with a robbery at a Farmers and Merchants Bank branch. Authorities say he was armed with a revolver when he demanded money from an employee March 5.

Authorities say a U.S. Marshals regional task force and the FBI launched a joint investigation to find the man. Aside from the robbery, authorities say Scrutchins faces charges in Georgia of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and has violated parole for another charge in Michigan.

Officials are unsure of when Scrutchins will be extradited to Alabama, and it is unclear if he has a lawyer.
