BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Department of Justice officials say a former state trooper has been sentenced to a year in prison after forcing a woman to perform sex acts.

Officials say 51-year-old Keith Wilson Kelley has been sentenced to a year in prison followed by a year of supervised release.

Authorities say Kelly was a captain with the State Troopers in 2007 when he followed a 20-year-old college student to her car after seeing she didn't pay for all her items at a self-checkout register. Officials say he took the woman's name and phone number, later called her and asked to meet at a gas station. Kelly told her she would be charged with a felony unless she performed sex acts with him.

Officials say Kelly propositioned four other women during a two-year period.
