BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — WIAT-TV, a CBS affiliate, is back on the air after a signal outage disrupted service to some of its viewers in central Alabama.

In a statement, CBS42 President and General Manager Bill Ballard says repair work started early Tuesday morning and was completed without any setbacks. The signal was disrupted Sunday night and the cause of the outage was unclear.

Officials say DirecTV, Dish Network, and other cable customers were impacted by the outage. Representatives say AT&T U-verse, Bright House Networks and Charter Communications customers were not affected by the signal disruption.

According to the Nielsen Station Index, WIAT-TV serves more than 700,000 households in the Birmingham, Anniston and Tuscaloosa area.
