Power outage affects 1,200 in south Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — An early morning power outage has left about 1,200 people without electricity in south Birmingham.

Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/12ozaBn ) Alabama Power was working Saturday morning to determine what caused the blackout across several neighborhoods.

Alabama Power spokeswoman Keisa Sharpe-Johnson says the outage affected roughly 1,200 people in the city's Lakeview and Clairmont areas.

She says the company is investigating the cause of the blackouts. It was unknown how soon power would be restored to affected homes and businesses.
