LOCUST FORK, Ala. (AP) — Dozens of searchers are looking for a woman who's missing after a rafting trip in Blount County.

Authorities are trying to locate Alyssa Huffstutler of Blountsville, a 19-year-old student at the University of Alabama.

Huffstutler was rafting with friends on the Locust Fork branch of the Warrior River when she got separated from her inner tube on a rough stretch of water.

Friends notified police after the accident, which happened about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Huffstutler's uncle, Larry Staton, tells WBRC-TV the missing woman is a certified scuba diver and a trained lifeguard. She says relatives are hopeful that she's OK.

The Blount County Sheriff's Department says all its personnel are on the scene along with volunteers and rescuers from other agencies.
