2 arrested in fatal Birmingham triple shooting
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Birmingham police say two people have been arrested in a fatal triple shooting.
Police Sgt. Johnny Williams said Wednesday that 26-year-old Stanley Chatman and 21-year-old Crystal Nelson were arrested in the deaths of 17-year-old twin brothers Jonathan and Jerry Berry.
The two were shot along with their mother June 28 when a group of people ransacked the family's house. The shooting left the boys' mother paralyzed from the waist down.
Chatman is charged with two counts of capital murder and attempted murder. He was charged with murder in 2005, but the charge was later reduced to manslaughter. Chatman was released from prison in November and was charged in another slaying in March.
Nelson is charged with two counts of felony murder.
It's unclear if Chatman or Nelson have lawyers.
