Flash flood warning issued for Huntsville area


HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Heavy rains have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood warning for parts of five counties in the Huntsville area.

Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/17WgRun ) northwest Madison County was placed under a warning Thursday until 6 p.m. CDT. A warning was also in effect until 5:15 p.m. for central Morgan County, southeast Limestone County, southeast Lawrence and northwest Cullman County.

Meteorologist Jennifer Schuller says the weather service received many phone calls from people reporting heavy rain and roads blocked by flooding in north Alabama.

Forecasters say cities that could see flooding include Hartselle, Trinity, Priceville, Falkville, Flint City, West Point and Moorsville.

Up to 2 inches of rain was forecast to accumulate from Decatur to Massey Thursday afternoon.
