Firefighters battle blaze at Dollar Tree store

HOMEWOOD, Ala. (AP) — Firefighters were battling a large business fire in Homewood.

Homewood Fire Lt. Jason Hallman tells The Birmingham News (http://bit.ly/13ffdfY) that a Dollar Tree store on Green Springs Highway caught fire shortly before 9 a.m. Monday.

Authorities said the blaze was under control, but firefighters were putting out hotspots.

Homewood and Vestavia Hills firefighters responded to the blaze. Hallman said the Dollar Tree sign on the store's façade had collapsed, but there were no injuries.
