OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) — Heavy rainfall and flooding have forced the closure of several Lee County roads through the weekend.

Sheriff Jay Jones told the Opelika-Auburn News (http://bit.ly/1456mRS ) that portions of Lee Road 146, Lee Road 10 and Lee Road 27 were affected by mid-week flooding and will be closed for inspections.

Highway and sheriff's deputies will allow limited traffic on Lee Road 146 during daylight hours from Friday through Monday. Jones said motorists should only drive on that road if their travel is absolutely necessary.

Lee Road 10 was struck by some of the worst flooding. A bridge over one creek became completely submerged. While the bridge appears stable, local authorities want highway engineers to inspect it.

Officials said they hope to have all the affected roads open by Monday.
