2 people killed in 2-vehicle wreck on Ala. highway

LINDEN, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say a man and a child have been killed in a two-vehicle crash in western Alabama.

Alabama State Troopers say the wreck happened shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 43 south of Linden.

Authorities say 19-year-old Anthony Robinson Jr. of Linden was killed when the 1996 Chevrolet Blazer he was driving collided with a 2013 International truck. A passenger in Robinson's vehicle -- 12-year-old Christopher Boykin of Demopolis -- was also killed.

The truck was being driven by Leonard Essex of Demopolis. Essex was injured and taken to Bryant Whitfield Hospital in Demopolis for treatment.

Alabama State Troopers were continuing to investigate the crash. They said no additional details were immediately available.

Linden is about 100 miles west of Montgomery.
