Ala. medical facilities announce merger

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Two Huntsville area medical facilities have announced plans to merge.

Huntsville Hospital and Hospice Family Care announced the merger Thursday and Huntsville Hospital CEO David Spillers says the facility is looking to apply to create a hospice facility featuring 24-hour nursing care within the next six months.

Hospice Family Care board of directors President Tony Palumbo told AL.com (http://bit.ly/15Hj99q) the two nonprofit organizations have been discussing working together for more than two years.
