10 students arrested after brawl at high school
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Police say they arrested 10 students after two groups fought at Jackson-Olin High School in Birmingham's Ensley area.
The Birmingham News reports that the brawl broke out shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday in Hall F.
Students and police say the fight was between two groups who have long been feuding -- those from the Ensley and Pratt City neighborhoods.
Birmingham police West Precinct Capt. James Blanton said Mace was used on one student, but mist from the chemical could have reached others nearby.
Blanton said the 10 students arrested will be charged with affray. He said preliminary reports are that nine students assaulted one student.
Police say there were no serious injuries.
