MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — The Alabama Supreme Court is refusing to block the death sentence of a man convicted of murdering four people in Shelby County.

Al.com (http://bit.ly/1b2m1GL ) reports the justices on Friday declined to review a lower court ruling that upheld the case against 35-year-old Michael Brandon Samra.

Samra was 19 police say he and another teen, Mark Anthony Duke, killed Duke's father, the man's fiancee and her two young daughters.

Duke was 16 at the time and received a death sentence. The death sentence was converted to life without parole after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled prisoners couldn't be put to death for crimes that happened while they were younger than 18.

Samra tried to get his death sentence overturned also on the grounds of fairness, but a court refused.
