Ala. group hosting career expo for students
MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — The Southwest Alabama Workforce Development Council is gearing up to host its fourth annual Worlds of Opportunity career expo for Alabama students.
The two-day event, which begins Wednesday, is aimed at exposing southwestern Alabama students to potential career paths. Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/18M68m4 ) more than 10,000 eighth grade students are expected to participate in this year's event.
The council's Executive Director Laura Chandler says 9,800 students participated last year.
Six companies, including ExxonMobil, are expected to give presentations during the event and industry leaders in the aerospace, communications and engineering fields — among others — are also expected to participate.
