Ala. college team without gear after bus fire

SELMA, Ala. (AP) — A college football coach in Selma says he and others are working to replace items that were lost when the team's bus caught on fire over the weekend.

Concordia College football head coach Don Lee told the Selma Times-Journal ( ) the team was able to salvage about 10 helmets when its bus blew a tire and caught on fire before their game against Miles College on Saturday.

Lee says the team lost jerseys, camera equipment, shoulder pads and more, and players practiced without helmets and other gear on Monday.

Lee says the team is scheduled to play the University of West Alabama on Thursday, and the UWA coach called while they were on the side of the road to ask if they needed any help.
