MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — A man convicted of beating a 69-year-old woman to death with a claw hammer has been sentenced to die by lethal injection.

Carlos Kennedy was convicted in the death of real estate agent Zoa White two years ago and was sentenced to death in Mobile County Circuit Court. Authorities have said the woman was beaten and found dead inside of her midtown Mobile home.

Prosecutors have said the woman was expected to pick her grandson up on June 28, 2010 and he rode his bike to her house when she didn't show up. Officials have said the boy noticed that one of the windows at White's home had been broken.
