Bill to Allow Larger Beer Bottles Stalls in House
By CBS 8 News

Fans of gourmet beer may not be able to buy it in Alabama in the larger bottles it typically is sold in.

A bill to allow beer to be sold in larger bottles has stalled in Tuesday in the Alabama House of Representatives. Beer may only be sold in Alabama in containers up to a pint or 16 ounces.

The measure would have allowed beer to be sold in containers up to almost 26 ounces. Proponents say that size allows for the sale of high-end specialty beer, which is typically sold in bottles that are either 22 ounces or 750 milliliters.

The bill failed a procedural vote in the House that would have allowed members to approve or kill it.
