A new study by the Tax Foundation confirms Alabama's reputation as a low tax state.

The report puts Alabama at 43 in the country for tax collections in 2012 with about 18 thousand dollars per person. The national average was around 25 hundred.

They also put Alabama last among the states for state and local taxes in 2011.

The study by the tax policy research organization shows the impact of federal funding on state government. It says federal funding makes up 37 percent of the state revenue in Alabama. That's 12th highest in the country.
