It's one of Southeast Alabama's biggest health concerns...Now a new program is designed to help stroke victims. The Alabama Department of Public Health developed The Southeast Regional Pilot Acute Stroke System. It uses an organized network to route those patients to the closest hospital that can care for them. The system has been in operation for six months. It serves 18 counties in Southeast Alabama.

<"CALLING 9-1-1 , GETTING PLUGGLED INTO THE STROKE SYSTEM, THEN GETTING ROUTED TO A FACILITY THAT CAN MANGE YOUR STROKE MAY BE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RETURNING TO FULL FUNCTION OR BEING LEFT WITH A PERMANENT DISABILITY IT MAY BE IN SOME CASES BETWEEN SURVIVING AND NOT SURVIVING SO THIS MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE ON AN INDIVIDUAL AND PERSONAL LEVEL.">
