Tasty Dishes at the Alabama Wildlife Federation's Wild Game Cook-Off

By Ellis Eskew

People had the chance to taste some unusual dishes at the Alabama Wildlife federation's Wild Game Cook-Off in Selma Thursday.

Everything from venison to quail, even gator and rabbit could be found at the cook-off.
Our own Alabama News Network Meteorologist Marcy Novak got to judge the event.
There were several categories including fish, fowl, and game.
And best overall winner among other prizes.
But some say it's not all about winning.

"We really enjoy the comradrie and the good people we meet all over the state. It's a lot of fun. Even our grandson, we try to take him to all of them with us and raising him up the same way to love hunting and fishing and the outdoors," said Mark McGrady, last year's 'Best Overall' winner.

This year's 'Best Overall' winner went to Peppertree Pit Crew out of Montgomery for their bacon swiss stuffed quail.
They will go on to the state finals in Millbrook next August.
