From Campaign 2010 -- A new, independent statewide poll shows the Republican races for governor and attorney general are wide open.

Public Strategy Associates announced Tuesday the results of a poll conducted of 1,007 likely Republican primary voters between Feb. 3-4 by Baselice and Associates of Austin, Texas.

The poll shows that if the Republican gubernatorial primary were held today, 20% of those asked would choose Bradley Byrne and 17% Roy Moore. Of the other candidates, 8% favor Tim James, 4% Robert Bentley, 3% Kay Ivey and 2% Bill Johnson.

But 46% are undecided about who to support for governor.

In the Republican primary for attorney general, the poll shows incumbent Troy King with 27% support and Luther Strange at 24%, which is a statistical dead-heat. 49% of voters are undecided.

Pollsters say the numbers show that all the candidates have the chance to make their cases before the large group of undecided voters. They say the candidates need to work on their name identification as they lay out their platforms.

Primary date in Alabama is June 1.
