Turnout for Alabama's presidential primaries is about 30 percent.

Votes were still being counted Tuesday night, but it appeared about 780,000 of Alabama's 2.6 million registered voters went to the polls. That's close to the 29 percent turnout that Secretary of State Beth Chapman had predicted.

The number of votes in the Republican primary was about triple the votes in the Democratic primary.
