Hunting for alligators has been around for hundreds of years as a sport. But in the 20th century the alligator population in the southeast started to dwindle.

The alligator then became a protected animal from hunters. However, in recent years, a rising population of alligators has allowed the hunts to resume.

CBS 8's Jeff Sanders decided to see what it was all about as he goes Alabama Gator Hunting.
