Alabama State Pleased with Firm's Financial Review
Alabama State University officials say an accounting firm's review of its contracts and other issues raised by former President Joseph Silver has turned up only minor problems.
University vice president Freddie Gallot told the Montgomery Advertiser that a few issues were found by the firm Warren Averett Wilson Price, but the report was great overall for a university that has $200 million flow through it every year.
The university employed the firm for the review after the former president questioned several contracts and made allegations of conflicts of interest. The report does note that some contracts valued at more than $100,000 were paid without the president's approval, which is a violation of university procedure.
Alabama State's board is meeting Friday to interview three finalists for president.
