A New Twist on New Year's Celebration in Montgomery

Tools

Montgomery City Officials are planning what they call a "Night of Lights" for downtown on New Years Eve.

Commerce Street will be closed to traffic and bands will perform starting at 9 P.M.

Fireworks will be set off when the clock strikes midnight and a laser-light show will create a feel of stars in the night sky.

Mayor Todd Strange says it will not be a traditional ball drop like in New York or in Mobile.

Strange also said he hopes people going to scheduled events on New Years will gather downtown to hear the bands and watch the show, which he says will be spectacular.
