AGAPE "Love" 5K Benefits 16-year old Repeat Cancer Patient
Running is a great way to fulfill your new year's resolutions, but sometimes it can be done to help others.
Taylor Road Baptist Church is doing just that.
The church held the AGAPE or the “love” run/walk early this morning in Montgomery.
All proceeds of this race will help medical expenses for 16 year old cancer patient Amelia Word.
She is fighting cancer for the second time.
At age 6, she was diagnosed with a rare ovarian germ cell tumor and about nine years after paying her final bill, she was diagnosed with leukemia.
Amelia says she's extremely grateful for the community's donations.
She said, “There's a lot of significant because they're showing how much they care for us and how much they support our family and they didn't have to do this, but they chose to.”
Participants paid $25to be in the 5K, and $15 for the one mile.
They also dressed in their favorite "royal-themed" costume to win a door prize! And, of course, Amelia was the judge.
