Alabama State University has been cleared to play in the postseason

, after a decision by the NCAA.

The university came under the microscope recently because of a low Academic Progress Report - - which led to postseason bans for some of their athletics teams.

Earlier this week, baseball and volleyball got the good news, and football and men's basketball were cleared Friday.

The NCAA has decided to lift the postseason ban after the initial APR penalties were imposed against the four teams, according to athletic director Melvin Hines. ASU was given an adjustment phase with the opportunity to submit additional data.

Hines says the university is "thrilled that our student-athletes will now be eligible to compete in postseason play."

A press conference is scheduled for Saturday at noon.
