Alabama State University's new stadium, when complete, will seat 26,000, but will those seats be filled?

Cramton Bowl, where the football team has been playing, has a capacity of 25,000. Average game attendance has been about 12,000, according to ASU Athletic Director Stacy Danly.

President William Harris said a marketing strategy is in place to sell the new seats and he is confident they will be filled.

"I would suspect that there were a lot of people who didn't think Yankees stadium would be filled either. All we say is we're going to put the best football team on the field that we can put," Harris said.

ASU will play Tuskegee in its inaugural game in the new stadium Thanksgiving for the Turkey Day Classic.

The new stadium's price tag is about $61 million -- $11 million more than projected.

ASU has a total enrollment of about 5,600 undergraduate and graduate students.
