Abortion Bill Debated in the Alabama House
By CBS 8 News

Should taxpayer money pay for elective abortions? That's the debate at the Alabama State House, as lawmakers consider a bill to opt-out of that part of the federal health care mandate.

A bill to allow the state to opt out of funding abortions is still being debated in the House.

If passed, it would go to the governor's desk to be signed.

The new federal health care reform Act requires Alabama to operate health care plans that would pay for an abortion.
