Auto Supplier Breaks Ground in Montgomery Industrial Park
By Alabama News Network

Montgomery will be the new site of an automotive supplier for Kia and Hyundai.

DAS automotive broke ground today, bringing the promise of 300 new jobs on top of the 100 workers already at the company.

DAS makes car seats for Kia and Hyundai. Montgomery is a perfect fit, with the Hyundai plant already in town and a Kia plant only a short drive into Georgia.
Governor Robert Bentley says that bringing is suppliers is just as crucial as bringing in the businesses themselves.

"The suppliers are very important for any parent company. And that's what we're recruiting from our automobile industry and from our aerospace industry," said Governor Bentley.

Mayor Todd Strange says it wouldn't have been possible to bring in DAS if they hadn't developed the industrial park.

"It's the perfect location for them. The county has done a great job over the last 10 years of having the vision for this park and having it shovel ready for them to move in," said Mayor Strange.

This is a big step for the Korean company. The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to be a part of helping them establish themselves not only in the state, but on the continent.

"This is particularly important because DAS, this is their first plant in north america. Ti's wonderful to have them here to supply Kia and Hyundai and be another layer in the Hyundai family of suppliers," said Chamber of Commerce President Elect Leslie Sanders.

If everything goes according to schedule, the new plant should be ready by the beginning of 2014.
