Two Bells are going to lead Alabama's Board of Education for the upcoming school year.

The State Board of Education voted Wednesday to elect Stephanie Bell of Montgomery as vice president and Ella Bell of Montgomery as president pro tem. The terms are for one year.

Stephanie Bell will preside at board meetings when the governor is absent. Ella Bell will preside if Stephanie Bell is not present.

The Bells replace Vice President Randy McKinney and President Pro Tem Gary Warren, who aren't seeking re-election in November. The two Bells are seeking re-election to their school board seats and have no opposition.

Stephanie Bell, who is not related to Ella Bell, was first elected to the school board in 1994. Ella Bell has been on the board since 2001.
