Tallassee Police Chief Jimmy Rodgers says rescue crews have recovered the body of a fisherman who was swept into the Tallapoosa River Thursday afternoon.

Rogers says the body of 27-year-old John Picken was found just after 9:00 on Saturday morning.

Picken was fishing with three other people on rocks alongside the bank when the water began to rise. The three other fishermen were able to escape, but Picken was swept out into the water.

Rodgers says the body was found about a half a mile away from those rocks.
