Changes To Immigration Law, Jobs, and Education Will Be Top Legislative Issues

Lawmakers will soon be making their way back to Montgomery for the start of the 2012 legislative session.

Several big issues will take center stage like job creation, education, and changes to the immigration law. Many republicans believe a measure to allow charter schools in Alabama would advance the way students are educated in the state, and there are several different ideas on how jobs could be created. One of the biggest issues may be revisions to the immigration law passed last session. Some republicans who voted for the bill admit the measure did have some unintended consequences that need to be looked at, but promise it will not be repealed. "We will see revisions and tweak it to make sure it is 100% in line with federal law" said Sen. Bryan Taylor of Prattville.

The first day of the session is next Tuesday, February 7th.
