Construction Progressing on Outer Loop Road Project in Montgomery Co.

After years of planning, the outer loop road project in Montgomery County is underway and 15%  complete.

Right now, crews are grading the relocation of U.S. Highway 80, and building four ramp bridges to tie Interstate 85 to the loop.

This is part of the first phase that will connect Vaughn Road to I-85.

The outer loop will ultimately ease traffic congestion and cut down travel time to west Alabama.

The outer loop project will eventually connect I-85 east of Montgomery to I-65 and over to U.S. Highway 80 west of Dannelly Field.

This first small part is scheduled to be finished by the end of 2014.
