The man charged with killing three people at a pool party in Auburn appeared in court in Opelika wearing a gray and white striped jumpsuit.

District Judge Russell Bush held a hearing Wednesday on whether to send Desmonte Leonard's case to a grand jury for possible indictment.

Leonard faces three counts of capital murder and two of second-degree assault. The hearing will include testimony by Auburn Police Detective Jude Hackett, who investigated the shooting last month.

Former Auburn University football players Ladarius Phillips and Ed Christian were killed, along with DeMario Pitts.
