CBS 8 News was first on the air with confirmation that Auburn shooting suspect Desmonte Leonard has turned himself in to authorities in Montgomery.

Auburn police chief Tommy Dawson says Leonard turned himself in to U.S. Marshals and the FBI at the federal courthouse downtown at 7:57 p.m. Tuesday night, with the help of attorney Susan James.

He is being charged with three counts of capital murder and two counts of assault in the first degree. Right now, he's being held at the Montgomery County jail.

Leonard is suspected of shooting six people at a party at an apartment complex in Auburn Saturday. That shooting left three people dead and three others hurt. Two of the people killed were former Auburn University football players.
